River Don summer Keig oak trees through framed branches upstream Donside Aberdeenshire in North East Scotland looking upstream westwards in the general direction of Keig and towards Strathdon and the Bridge of Alford or looking downstream where the river passes below Castle Forbes which can be seen up on top of the hill to the lefthand side. Although this is the summer of the long summer heat and sunshine the North East of Scotland was lucky to get some rain, unlike England, but the river is low and there are signs of river algae and the riverside reeds seem to have grown more.

Scotland Autumn Falls River Feugh Banchory colours beech golden waterfall water rocks at famous Royal Deeside falls taken from footbridge near Banchory. This photo was taken in 2003 and was one of my early digital photographs using the Fuji S2Pro, a camera I had tested and decided to switch to fulltime giving up slide film. A recent upgrade of the public viewing footbridge by the old road bridge has had additional interest by the creation of a wooden sculpture created for the ‘selfies’ as an alternative to allowing padlocks to be attached to the wire screens which was becoming a safety hazard given the accumulated weight. The viewing area is very popular for watching the salmon leaping up the falls on their annual migration to the spawning beds in the burns that feed the Water of Feugh especially in the Forest of Birse.
