Glen Saugh Spring bnm2390jhp Glensaugh Finella hills snow spring Gateside farmland Aberdeenshire Scottish sheep grazing on the B974 Cairn O’Mount road at Gateside Farm near the Clatterin Brig restaurant. Opposite the restaurant is the road to Auchenblae passing St Palladius Church and Drumtochty Castle in Glen Drumtochty which has interesting Forest Enterprise walks through mixed mature woodland and after leaving the forest the road enters Strath Finella passing this delightful loch near Glensaugh, used for fishing and often visited by ducks and swans. Fettercairn Spring bnm2387jhp Fettercairn Mearns Aberdeenshire Scottish April spring park daffodils flowers photo of rural village situated on the flat rolling fertile farmlands of the Mearns and passed through most often by travellers leaving the main north trunk road to Aberdeen and cutting northwards over the Cairn O’Mount to Deeside. A barony from 1604 and busy market village although the Mercat Cross partly dating from 1670 and currently standing in the village square is probably a relic of past times from the nearby county town of Kincardine. A popular hotel the Ramsay Arms and a working Distillery with a visitor’s centre offer attractions to visitor and I personally remember photographing a Queen Victoria and Prince Albert lookalike starting the Victorian Trail promotion for the then Kincardine and Deeside District Council. Donside Towie up481672jhp Donside River Don Chapel Towie Aberdeenshire Scottish summer broom clouds yellow blossom an attractive part of Upper Donside between the Muir of Fowlis and Towie looking across the farmland by the River Don towards Strathdon. This is taken from the back road running to the south of the River from the Hillockhead/Chapel of Towie heading east to Milltown of Towie village itself and eventually crossing the River Don at Glenkindie. This is one of my favourite views of the river although the broom has seen better days.
