Caption: | Dendara Temple east enclosure wall gate Roman ancient Egyptian photographfrom this monument located north of Luxor surviving as one of the finest examples of the Late Period and the main buildings visited today date from fourth century BC in to the Roman period. It has a notable rare representation of the famous Cleopatra, some beautiful carvings and is relatively unscathed by the ravages of time, desecration and being dismantled for building materials. This is a view looking eastwards to the remains of the mudbrick enclosure wall and a large monumental gate dating from the Roman period probably from a nearby town and temple complex dedicated to Horus and was the approach to the small Iseum, birth temple to Isis located at the rear of the main Hathor Temple. |
