Karanis nr Southern Temple 6438EG07JHP Karanis Kom Aushim City Fayoum Egypt Ptolemaic Roman Mudbrick Erosion in the north eastern edge of the oasis area known as Fayoum and dates from Ptolemaic times through to 500AD. Two Roman dated temples survive in reasonable state and the southern one is dedicated to the crocodile Gods of Pnepheros and Petesuchos. Many finds have been made especially of life in a residential area with houses scattered throughout the site and there is also a fine Roman bathhouse.
