Caption: | Dunnideer Hillfort Panorama Insch Aberdeenshire Scotland Summer Library Photo ofthis site although the remains now visible were one of the oldest stone castles in Scotland, built around 1260. Situated on one of two hills both of which show evidence of early use as fortified strongholds, they are near Insch in Aberdeenshire. It is accessed by a steep but short climb from a minor road to Clashindarroch Forest and there is a small signed carpark area. Thsi view is taken near Coldhome on the road looking eastwards over Insch that heads and one can cut back to the Pictish Picardy Symbol Stone at Netherton. |
