Caption: | Buckie Morayshire winter Moray Scotland harbour coast harbour Selkie vesselberth anchored is one of the largest Morayshire towns facing Moray Firth on the northern coast of North East Scotland with small operational fishing harbour, fish market, boat building and featured on the Fishing heritage Trail. Made up of several distinct communities it extends some 3 miles along the coast but is never more than 1 mile inland and as it never actually touches the busy A98 main coast road it remains a quieter than normal town. An earlier small harbour at Buckpool, dating from 1857, but rapidly became outdated and now on longer exists but the more modern Cluny harbour dating from 1880 still operates and is one of the finest on the North East Coast. Boasting some fine examples of typical North East Coast fisherman’s houses as well as several outstanding churches it is a town that still has much to offer the visitor |
