Caption: | Philae Temple Pylons Outside Oleander Flowering Foreground Egypt Aswan Islandhome of the Goddess Isis was established late in the history of Egypt being mainly Ptolemaic, eventually closing as a religious site around 550AD and being located on an island had remained remarkably untouched. Being relocated onto the Island of Agilkia on the River Nile near Aswan, to save it being flooded after the completion of the High Dam, it is perhaps one of the loveliest and most complete classic Egyptian temples to visit with a peaceful spirituality lacking in many of the land based sites. |
