Hatshepsut Temple Approach EG023316JHP Hatshepsut Temple panorama approach walk entrance magnificent mortuary temple female ruler of ancient Egypt is located on the West Bank of the River Nile at Luxor at an area called Deir el-Bahri and built into the base of the cliffs of the Theban Hill behind which are branches of the Valley of the Kings. Sadly this is the area where several died during a terrorist attack in 1997. The upper levels were opened again in 2002 after extensive excavation and restoration.
