Karanis North Temple 6449EG07JHP Karanis Kom Aushim Egypt North Temple Vista Desert Ruins Mudbrick was a city on the north eastern edge of the area known as Fayoum and dates from Ptolemaic times through to 500AD. Two Roman dated temples survive in reasonable state with this photo showing the north temple viewed from the southern one which was dedicated to the crocodile Gods of Pnepheros and Petesuchos. Many finds have been made especially of life in a residential area with houses scattered throughout the site and there is also a fine Roman bathhouse. A small museum now closed has ben replaced with an open air area with a selection of artefacts adjacent to the main walk to the temples.
