Aswan Nubian Museum Skeleton EG052935JHP Aswan Egyptian Nubian Museum grave and skeleton dating to prehistory around 35-3000BC and found at Kubanieh, the 2nd Cataract on the River nIle at Aswan. Semi Nomadic tribe buring dead in oval/rectangular pits of a stone structure and including burial goods just as peronal ornaments made of ivory, faience, bone; shells and coloured stones. An exhibit in this modern building whose foundations were laid in 1986, opened in 1997 and organised through UNESCO. Very low artificial light makes general photography difficult as well as affecting accurate colour balance. This now appears to be the only museum in Egypt where photography is still allowed although it is not easy as the ambient lighting is extremely subdued for conservation reasons. Tut Ceremonial Seat EG11708JHP Egyptian Museum Exhibit folding stool backrest ceremonial chair Tomb Tutankhamun now in the prime antiquities collection in Cairo taken during visits between 1994 and 1996 when photography was allowed albeit without flash and tripod. None is of studio quality, being handheld with existing, usually extremely poor light and using slide film, pushed Fuji 400asa to get a suitable aperture and shutter speed. Most of the photos are from the Tutankahum exhibits while the rest are items that interested me as I explored this wonderful and extensive collection, requiring many more hours if not days and is only hinted at during the usual one or two hour visit made on a package tour. Saqqara Museum 6848EG07JHP Saqqara Museum Egyptian Jewellery Gold Collar Lapis Lazuli Faience Winged Scarab exhibit in this new museum by the modern ticket office at entrance to the Saqqara necropolis south of Cairo. This elaborately decorated funerary necklace dating possibly from the 3rd Dynasty and found north of the Unas Causeway is on the site of the Step Pyramid built for King Djoser around 2500BC under the architectural control of Imhotep who later was deified. Photographs taken in the mid 90's mainly for the AA Publishing & Ordnance Survey Highland and Islands Guide book using transparency film covering the Highlands of Scotland from Inverness, northwards through Easter Ross to Wick and Thurso, along the Northern Coast, down the West Coast, including the Islands of Skye and Mull. Other material included was gathered for other AA Publishing Guides including Shetland, Pitlochry and Tayside. New photographs are now included from 2012 book commission travels in Angus, Perth, Kinross, Trossachs and Tayside.
