Luxor Sobek Stele EG962098JHP Egyptian Museum Luxor Stele Stela Sobek Ima Tree Pia Worship Priest was taken inside this modern building on the waterfront of the River Nile with its fascinating collection covering the extensive history of ancient Egypt including items from the Tomb of Tutankahum. This particular exhibit was found at Dahamsha at the Sawahel Armant Canal in 1967 and includes the Priest Pia and his son, wife and mother offering to the Crocodile God Sobek and it is in the museum proper and was taken in 1996 when you could pay to take photographs but not use a tripod, now not allowed at all, and I used Kodak 5042 Tungsten Slide film which still meant hand holding was at the extremes of useful photography in low light conditions. In the great hall is the Horn of Leys, supposedly a symbol of this grant. The tower house is one of the finest examples of the period and some of the original wall paintings still survive.
