It has a notable rare representation of the famous Cleopatra, some beautiful carvings and is relatively unscathed by the ravages of time, desecration and being dismantled for building materials. The photo is of the Roman birth house or mammisi built by Trajan with some of the finest carvings in Egypt, here with scenes of Hathor suckling her son Ihy and another of him behind her with the King Trajan making offering to her and taken as one enters the main temple area near the north gate. Being relocated onto the Island of Agilkia on the River Nile near Aswan, to save it being flooded after the completion of the High Dam, it is perhaps one of the loveliest and most complete classic Egyptian temples to visit with a peaceful spirituality lacking in many of the land based sites.
