Luxor Karnak Egypt Hatshepsut Queen bargue carvings Chapelle Rouge lettuces has been partially restored in addition to other small but beautiful chapels and temples in the Open Air Museum, a quiet and contemplative extra to the north east of the main Karnak complex. This is recent major reconstruction situated in the Open Air Museum at Karnak with rescued blocks from the original barque Chapel built by the Pharaoh Hatshepsut and possibly originally cited between her obelisks in the centre of the temple of Amun. The partial reconstruction offers an insight to the beauty and grace of such a building destroyed because of the backlash against her ruling as a ‘male’ King. Rescued blocks were found inside other buildings around the site. Karnak is located near Luxor City centre on the East Bank of the River Nile and it the largest religious complex on the Nile.

White Chapel Senusret Karnak Luxor Egypt Photo Amun Ithyphallic Cabbage is one of the original and stars of the Open Air Museum in the Karnak complex on the East Bank of the River Nile at Luxor. The oldest reconstruction at the site dating from around 1971-26 BC it testifies to one of the richest periods of craftsmanship in ancient Egypt, achieved perhaps with the stability of his reign of over 30 years.

Luxor Temple Merneptah Egyptian Pharaoh White Crown Flail Colours Wall Relief who reigned around 1212-1202BC, is on the West Bank of the Nile at Luxor and was recently opened not long before these photos were taken in 2005. It is a mixture of open air and covered museum exhibits with some remains of the temple area with column bases. Some of the coloured wall reliefs are exquisite and because of the natural light available were easily photographed despite being inside. There is also a replica of the famous Israeli Stele, the original being in the Cairo Museum. This is a visit that would have to made outwith the usual West Bank package tour although easily arranged and is easily found next to the Ramasseum.
