Away in the distance with the same alignment is the hill with the Bronze Age Tomnaverie Recumbent Stone Circle built on it. The excavation site behind this viewpoint is also known as Blackhills although it is located nearer to the farm of Hillhead. Bennachie summit can also be seen from the site and given its height it was a very carefully chosen location.
