Huntly Spring Flowers asd7283jhp Huntly spring flowers trees beech River Deveron Aberdeenshire Scotland walks, near the Castle which in its present manifestation being basically a Palace, is situated on a strategic hillock over looking the River Deveron near its joining the Bogie at the town of Huntly where traces of a motte and bailey stood dating back to the 12th century. The present ruin dates from the 15th century and is adorned with 17th century oriels and armorials. It was the family seat of the Gordon Earl’s of Huntly for much of its chequered history and major player in the history of Scotland from the days of Robert the Bruce to the troubles times of the Covenanter’s. As this is a Historic Scotland property the photograph should be used for editorial, scenic or tourist related use. The castle carpark is a few yards from the entrance and ticket office and is accessed passing through the centre of Huntly and past the Gordon School. It is open for most of the summer and requires an entrance fee to be paid. Other material included was gathered for other AA Publishing Guides including Shetland, Pitlochry and Tayside. Linn of Dee xcv7993jhp Linn Dee Bridge opening plaque Victoria Deeside Glen Aberdeenshire Scotland dramatic dangerous bridge is as far west as the metal road goes in Glen Dee and the Linn is a popular visiting place because of the dangerous and spectacular nature of the river crashing though this narrow cleft in the granite rocks. A public carpark nearby is ideal parking for walkers heading north into the Cairngorms or westwards past the Chest of Dee into Glen Tilt and on to Blair Atholl or doubling back taking the metalled road to its end at the Quoich past the back of Mar Lodge and as far as the new National Trust for Scotland carpark. Bridge opened in September 1957 although the last digit is missing off the bridge, replacing a wooden one constructed in 1830; before that a mere plank of wood to cross by.
