Turriff is an ancient town mentioned in the 6th century with Pictish connections, with a later church built by the Knights Templar, as a main centre for the Covenanter Rebellion in 1639 and more recently conflict with Lloyd George’s National Health Insurance Scheme in 1913 and the creation of the Turra Coo.
