Caption: | Philae Temple Original Island River Nile Highview Beato Old PhotoAlbumen Print Egypt, dedicated to the Goddess Isis and here photographed by Antonio Beato, a Victorian photographer around 1890 and this copy is taken from his album called The Nile 1872. On its modern relocated site there is far more sense of it being on an island in a greater expanse of water and a viewpoint as close as this is no longer feasible. |
