Caption: | Ancient Egyptian Deir al-Madinah Great Pit Roman Water Well Custodianis located on the West Bank of the River Nile at Luxor lies to the west of Qurnet Murai hill and is the location of a workman's village with the remains of houses, streets and a Ptolemaic Temple and other chapels. The workers are known for their work in the Valley tombs which they reached walking over the Theban plateau. The photograph looks into the bottom of the Great Pit or well to the north of the village and attributed to Graeco-Roman period and a short walk past the Ptolemaic temple. |
