Caption: | Dendara Temple Osiris Chapel small roof ceiling opening interior photographat this home of the Goddess Hathor, north of Luxor survives as one of the finest examples of the Late Period and the main buildings visited today date from fourth century BC in to the Roman period. It has a notable rare representation of the famous Cleopatra, some beautiful carvings and is relatively unscathed by the ravages of time, desecration and being dismantled for building materials. The photo is of The Chapels of Osiris on the roof of the temple and in the western one it shows Osiris floating in the only source of light; a visit to the roof also gives wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. |
