This view is taken from the road approaching the main dual carriageway between Dundee and Aberdeen coming from St Cyrus near the A937 at South Barns. The Howe of Mearns is a central part low lying flat fertile farmland in the centre of an area stretching from the south of Stonehaven to the Tay Estuary. Once you head North West over the various Angus Glens or over the Cairn O’Mount from Fettercairn you go into hill farming, moorland or forested estates onto Deeside and eventually reach the Highlands.
