Loch Muick to4300404jhp Loch Muick Glen high view boulder trees Scottish autumn Glas-allt-Shiel track this high view above the Royal Lodge below in the forest looking down the Loch on the western shore of to the south of Ballater in Aberdeenshire North East Scotland. There is a complete and relatively easy walk round the loch and in this case passing the Royal Lodge of Glas-alt-shiel surrounded by forest with the highest peak of the Broad Cairn reached by walking up to and past the huge cliff face of the Dubh Loch. Passing behind the Lodge you join the path up to the waterfall and which is another route to reach the plateau surrounding Lochnagar. It is another enjoyable walk returning to the south of the Lodge and skirting round the top of Loch Muick, returning to the Spital Carpark via the Blackburn.
