Caption: | Dendara Temple Mammisi Roman Trajan Hathor Isis ancient Egypt eveninglocated at this home of the Goddess Hathor, north of Luxor surviving as one of the finest examples of the Late Period and the main buildings visited today date from fourth century BC in to the Roman period. It has a notable rare representation of the famous Cleopatra, some beautiful carvings and is relatively unscathed by the ravages of time, desecration and being dismantled for building materials. The photo is of the Roman birth house or mammisi built by Trajan with some of the finest carvings in Egypt, famous for its scenes of Hathor suckling her son Ihy and another of him behind her with the King Trajan making offering to her on the lower screen walls. |
